Not sure what is going on with my peahen. She laid 17 eggs this season so far...but never went broody! Last year, she laid 5 and that's it...went broody and was the best mom ever. This year....nothing....just eggs and 3 different nests. Nothing is different and nothing has been changed, added, or taken away....silly hen.
So........... as fate would have it, I had two hens go broody.
and with me writing the lay dates on the eggs, I felt optimistic. So I gave each hen 7 eggs a piece. I'm hopeful for a good hatch.
I'm leaving for vacay tomorrow and will be back on the 27th super late. They are due to hatch on 6/29 and 7/1. I am super excited!!!! An cochin and a barred rock (of all hens lol) are sitting ever so faithfully! The eggs due on 6/29 were laid the first 2 weeks in May and the 7/1 hatch the last two...

Although, I am pretty confused as to why my peahen didn't set this year. She was such a great mom last year. I thought for sure she would have set immediately. Any thoughts??
