This is my first time attempting to hatch eggs. Today is day 8 and I candled eggs earlier today. If things continue to go well, it looks like I am gonna have a slew of baby chicks. I am stoked!

Congrats, I am entering day 21 and have 7 new babies. I really didn't candle much until day 17 because I wanted to make sure I didn't toss any viable eggs but that's impressive.

it is a great feeling.

yesterday, I was out playing with my four week old New Years Day Hatch chicks and loving every minute of it. They are really starting to figure out that I'm the one they love cuz I have treats!

Randy- I haven't even thought of taking pics. What a great idea. When I turn them in the morning I will make sure to take pics of the eggs and bator. Thanks for the idea.

How many have you got that are looking good so far?

I remember my first eggs, candling and candling and not knowing quite what I was looking for and not seeing much of anything getting all disappointed. And then suddenly figuring out that I was looking at a little black speck and that it must be a tiny chicky embryo. Whoooo! So exciting. I hope your hatch continues to go well!

I don't have an incubator so all my chickens are hatched under my broody hens. I was so excited waiting those three weeks for the little chickens. Then a few days before they were due to hatch we had a thunderstorm which killed the growing chicks - I was so disappointed. I then tried again and the same thing happened. On my third try I hatched 2 little Pekin Bantams. They both ended up being roosters so went to live on a friends' property. Having chicks is so much fun!!!!!
