Oh nah the nest boxes are added beyond the 8 ftdoes the 8 ft include the nest boxes? How much of one side (leeward) can you take off structurally?
Here's some inside pics, with Smudge my little 10 week old Silver Campine cockerel photo bombing. There's that big separate outdoor roost inside the coop in the pic, but I was thinking of keeping it there. Or adding additional roosting there in that spot (right side of door entry)does the 8 ft include the nest boxes? How much of one side (leeward) can you take off structurally?
The idea of a secure outdoor roost sounds great for your climate. I'm in an extreme (hot 100+, freezing winter) and it sounds like your summers are hotter than mine. Here's some inside pics, with Smudge my little 10 week old Silver Campine cockerel photo bombing. Hehe yeah I'm putting out some outdoor roosts, and they got like a 3rd of our big backyard for their run space, and a nice big sail cloth for outdoor shading.. among other thingsThe idea of a secure outdoor roost sounds great for your climate. Oh, hell we might just install AC then if there's space. We were talking about it before-I live in Houston and the only way I would put my chickens in your coop as if it had an air conditioner installed.
I highly recommend cutting more windows and just covering them with hardware cloth to stay open year-round.
