???So How the Heck Does One Go About Sexing Quail???

I have some Coturnix or A&M quail chicks that are only a few days old and I was wondering how old they would have to be to get sexed and what characteristics do I look for in each gender? My friend, who happens to own the parent flock, would like to know as well because so far the only way she cant tell is when she sees one mounting the others.

I don't know about A&M, but for coturnix, females have a speckled breast, whereas males have a golden/brown chest. More information on this below in the link.

It may take 4-5 weeks until you can sex them this way.

A&m's Are A Color Breed Of Coturnix Quail...

For Whites, A&m's Tibetans And Most Solid Or Very Dork Colors You Either Vent Sex Or Beer Sex. Niether Of These Will Be Very Successful To You For Another 5-6 Wks. Read The Sticky Post Here At The Top Of The Page, That Will Help
