I was a little suprised too. When you say mother, do you mean after the chicks hatched? I'm buying some fairly inexpensive bantam eggs and if she leaves them, we'll just put them in our incubator.

Once they started to hatch, she killed them.

Ohhh, I hate broodys, For one, I don't have any roosters, so it's pointless for my hens. But the most broodies I've ever gotten was two at a time. Then again I only have four chickens.
