I did my dates wrong, and entered my 9 eggs into lockdown 1 day early. I was supposed to wait for today to enter them in, and when i candled all 9 looked really good and developed. SO at day 17 instead of 18.. Im wondering how much affect this will have on my eggs? I transferred them to a hatcher which is constantly at 100 degrees and about 65-70% humidity. So i guess what im asking is.. Are the eggs really going to be hurt by 1 day less of activity (by activity i mean being in the turner.) The Eggs were shipped eggs as well, but for the first time in HISTORY (9 dozens for me) I have had 9/12 shipped eggs develop. They came from Georgia and i live in Oregon, so im glad they made the trip and are developing well, im just wondering if i just ruined my chances by a longshot, or whether its going to have that much effect at all.. I am going to wait and see either way, so i guess we will find out, but i was just wondering if someone on here had a similar experience and could share their results..

Thanks in advance,

Nate

I've had the opposite happen. My incubator was running warm so when I put the eggs in lockdown, one had already pipped. Out of 12 eggs that had started to develop, 10 hatched, including the one that had already pipped. Only one of the two that had started to develop and did not hatch was fully developed. I don't think the slightly warm incubator or the relatively late lockdown hurt them all that much.

I'm not going to say that you did not cause harm, but I certainly will not say that you destroyed them. All you can do is follow through and keep your humidity up. Good luck!

I have had several hatches where this has happened as well. Last time i set my BLRW's into lockdown i could hear one peeping.. He broke out within 12 hours of lockdown.. His siblings took a whole extra day to come out..

I think they will be okay. After the crazy stuff that happened this summer with hens going broody everywhere and I found chicks half hatched that had fallen (or been pushed out of the nest still in the egg more likely) onto the floor of the coop and cold barely pipped eggs as well. I stuck them into the incubator and all were okay. So I don't sweat the incubation process as much anymore lol.
