I just moved the first batch of these eggs off the turners! Also, my first quail hatch from my own eggs has started! I have one quail out and one zipping!
I'll definitely get pics up when they hatch. I know many people want to know how many made it to day 18, but after candling for a while, I gave up because I was worried that they would be out of the bator for too long, so I guess time will tell.
I am really going to have to stop by and see your operation in September when I'm up there. By then you'll be processing roos and your new pullets will almost be ready to lay.
The cost was something I planned and budgeted for.
Not all the eggs are here yet. I'll update tomorrow when I get more.
I am in your boat, buster. I have four bators bustin' at the seams with 1. waterfowl (cayuga duck & pilgrim goose eggs, 3 sources each)
2. turkey (bourbon reds, 3 places)
3 quail (coturnix and button, five sources, over 120 eggs)
4. chickens & pheasants...various breeds...havent gotten very serious with these yet, just finding out which breeds I enjoy most...so far speckled sussex, lf and bantam cochin, blue egg ee, and blue andalusians....maybe I'll get serious with them later in the year...I am still working on everything for the three serious ones right now
over all I have over 200 eggs, all hand-turned several times daily.
If I ever need some sussex eggs, I know where to turn!
ebay eggs have turned out poorly for me...both from packaging and stinginess, as well as actual quality of birds hatched....but here folks are VERY helpful and generous! It's great, like a big chicken family reunion where everyone expects you to just pass on the blessings!

Are you serious? You hand turn them? I hand turned 39 eggs for 4 days and about lost my mind. I was so glad when replacement parts for my turner showed up.
Buster, GOOD LUCK!!! I can't wait to see pic's of all those little fuzzies!!
