This might seem like a stupid question but will my females still lay eggs if I don't have a male?

You do have a valid and not stupid question. One I am not able to answer about ducks.

I only have chickens. Chickens of course do not need a rooster to lay. Long ago I had parakeets as pets. Not sure of their gender at the time. I am sure some may have been female. They never laid any eggs in all the time we had them. I suppose they needed to be mated pairs to lay, but not sure. Lets see what some duck owners will say here. Then we will both know.

WISHING YOU BEST

It's not stupid at all. I was floored to find out just a couple of weeks ago that my 69 year old mother didn't know that ducks lay eggs regardless whether there's a drake with them. The eggs just won't be fertile and produce ducklings if you have only females.

Thank you! We aren't looking for ducklings just eggs. My boyfriend prefers duck eggs to chicken eggs.

Not a stupid question at all! Like the others have said you don't need males for eggs. A friend of mine though all chickens crowed not just roosters and was totally shocked that you don't need males for eggs.
