Lactose is a sugar found in milk. Bacteria eat that sugar in the process that makes yogurt, DRAMATICALLY reducing the amount of lactose present in the end product... Many lactose intolerant people can eat yogurt no problem at all whatsoever, in fact, especially greek yogurt.

Just some good info for you to have in your back pockets. ;)

Hard cheeses are also practically lactose-free, and some are actually lactose-free (cheeses and yogurts).
