SO - I need a little advice on shipped eggs.

You really have nothing to lose by trying. You can candle at 5 or 6 days and have a pretty good idea if theres any development or not.

I mail a lot of Priority packages. Not eggs but other non time sensitive items. But I have mailed hundreds of them. In my experience if the package does not reach a destination in the US in three days, something went seriously astray. I had a package take 2 weeks to travel from here to a town 2 hours drive away. it went there Via Alaska. No kidding. I have heard of this sort of thing happening several times but is not common by any means. the other cause of a package being delayed is that it got damaged and either was tossed out and will never arrive or is on the slow method of being returned to the sender. I once had an envelope get torn open on it's way to china. never knew what happened to it until nearly 3 months later the torn up envelop was returned to me completely empty. packages sometime get hung up in equipment or other stuff and can really get mutilated. it happens. but as an example over 7 years and thousands of packages I think only about half a dozen have gotten torn up and returned to me. far more have signs of serious rough handling but the contents where fine. I would have to do some serious packaging in order to expect eggs to arrive safely and still there is the risk of them simply being jarred to much.
If they do arrive I would still put them in the incubator for the first 10 days or so and just see if any of them make it through. This way you do not just throw out what would have been good eggs but do not have to go through an entire 21 days of anxiety.

I agree with the others. You have nothing to loose putting them in for a week to see if they develope.

Ok then- assuming eggs are not broken upon final arrival into the bator they go for at least 10 days! At which time I will attempt candling and see (or not LOL) whether the chicken stars have aligned! High Risk - High Reward! I knew you guys would make me feel better about this! Thank you all!

I would be more concerned if it was the middle of summer and they were sitting somewhere cooking. With the cool weather the eggs are much more likely to make the delayed trip just fine. Good Luck!

I had eggs shipped on Thursday, and Today. Thursday from a BYC auction, and Today from My Pet Chicken, they are to be here on Monday guaranteed from My Pet Chicken, and I figure the other ones should be here Monday also!! The ones that were shipped Thursday, were collected Wednesday, so I should be okay, I hope!!! Good luck, I think that I will go and track my order I received eggs on Thursday, and did not want to take a chance so I put them under a broody that went broody on Thursday, so on Friday popped them under her
