On of my BO pullets gave me a scare this morning. I went to hang out with the chickens while I read a HobbyFarms magazine. One of my BOs came over to say hello, when I noticed a that her beak was pinker than normal. As I bent down closer, it looked like some sort of rash, and was even up on her comb in a few spots. So, I watched her really carefully, she looked great! Zipping here and there, twittering and scratching, tail held up high. Actually, she looked peppier than normal at 10:30 in the morning (that seems to be her usual nap time! haha).

So, I am all worried, wracking my brain about my poor chicken and her red, rashy beak, when I see her swagger over to the blackberry bush and extract a fat, red berry. OH! OF COURSE! She has a bad case of berry-thief-face. I thought she was dying, but she just MIGHT if dear husband finds out she's been knicking berries! He's been waiting since last year for more blackberry preserves! haha!

I have heard that berries can make them drunk - may be her good mood was "berry induced".
Mine get purple feet when the Mulberry tree over their run is dropping berries (not to mention the purple poop too)!
