My EE hen, Toasty Bernice, is 9 years old. June 9th was when I first noticed she was taking very quick breaths even though the weather was cool then. She is not gaping unless she gets agitated or hot. Thinking it's MG (confirmed in my flock) I treated her with LA-200 (two doses of .2cc per lb two days apart) and a calcium citrate+D3 tablet in case of egg problems. It did not help. Now she is not eating enough - her crop is flat in the evenings and her poops are very small and greenish with yellowish urates. I kept her in the cool basement during the heatwave to keep her comfortable and while she was isolated I got her to eat wet mash and mealworms and she had some normal-looking poops. But now that she's back out in the coop she won't eat enough of the normal feed (20% chick starter).
She is still perky, maybe not moving as much as she used to but she's still moving around a little.
Her comb is very red - seems redder than usual.
She is still (over a year now) on 3000mg of tart cherry extract twice a day for her swollen feet.
I don't see any wounds or swelling and I trimmed her bottom feathers as they were a little poopy.
Last time she laid an egg was probably a month and a half or so ago.
Does this sound like organ failure of some kind? I'm assuming she is nearing the end of her life, but I wanted to see if anyone has other ideas of what's going on with her. TIA
