So I told my husband I would hire a gardener for our lawn this summer.

Well, I never specified what species the gardener would be.

I was trying to take this picture while they were doing their thing, but she spotted me! As soon as she saw me she started to make a bee line for me this was the best shot I could get while trying to keep up and stay focused in her while she was running.

LOL There are too many birds of prey where I live for my chickens to be full time gardeners. But I have a dozen or so Canada Geese for part of the year. They nest on the wetlands on my property and trim the grass in my backyard every few days. And yes they also deposit organic fertilizer on the lawn, but fortunately they do not hang out on my lawn all the time. I know some would say, "Gross, I hate Canada Geese." But I am always wearing rubber boots when I am outside anyhow, because I am usually on the way to the coop or the barn out there. I still have to mow some, because the geese don't eat all weeds. I have actually considered getting goats to help clear brush as well.

Ah, the gardening options a so varied, considering that I don't live on a typical suburban lot.

Well, even with all the great forage they have, they still prefer their breakfast cereal.

We are fortunate with a lot of foliage around our place, so they can spread out in the shade and protection of low shrubs/trees/bushes all over!

There has been a hawk come around the past two days. The first time, it tried to circle around and try to catch me off guard. When it came back the next day (yesterday), it saw me and decided it wasn't worth it after it knew I saw it.
Put my dogs out there for the remainder of the night. No losses, praise God.
