I recently read a post here about someone's UPS man informing them that some of their neighbors had chickens and one was keeping a cow in the garage. I was sharing this with one of my daughters and it got me wondering if there were such a thing as minature cows, so I did a search and found some. They are adorable but VERY pricey.

This past weekend we put an offer in on a house and they accepted the offer. It's on 1/2 acre so I know that with everything I want to do there's no room for a cow, minature or otherwise! Later that day I was talking to my other daughter and mentioned the post I read and how I found out there are minature cows. Well.... yesterday my DH decided to visit her before they had to leave to head back home and of course she mentioned to him that I want a minature cow. He said what the HE double hockey sticks do I need a cow for? She said I don't know, but you could keep him in the garage.

When I got off work I called him and before he said anything I could hear the kids playing in the background and then I hear "mooooo". I asked him what the heck he was doing and he said I'm looking for a cow for you. Of course I cracked up because I Knew he wasn't doing any such thing.

Later when he was back at the hotel he called and the conversation went something like this...

DH: "Do I need a cow?"
Me: "I don't know, do you?"

DH:"NO!"
Me: laughing, trying to explain how it all got started... finishing with "they are soooooo cute, they are black and white like Stanley (our dog), and they are about the same size as him, they'd be so cute together."

DH: "Why do I need a cow?"
Me: "You don't need a cow, do you?

DH: "NO!"
Me: " Me either, I don't want a cow, but they are cute."

DH: "We aren't getting a cow"
Me: "Good, cuz I don't WANT a cow, I'm just saying they are out there and they are cute!"

DH: *sigh*

Despite my best attempts to reassure him I don't want a cow and that a post here prompted the whole thing he's still convinced I that in addition to chickens I also want a cow! LOL... NO I don't want a cow, but I am thinking about 2 pygmy goats! I think the grandkids would love them. But I think I'll wait awhile to break that to him!

No cows for you....LOL

-----------------

A farmer was milking his cow one day, and there was a fly flying around.

Farmer watched it, and the the fly flew in the cows ear.

Farmer kept milking, squirt, squirt, squirt...and out came the fly in the milk.

"In one ear and out the udder."

Remind him you don't have the space for a cow, and the other WI BYC'rs won't let you get a cow...
I would be careful about the goats though, get nanny goats, as the boys still like to head butt even if they are fixed.
Just an FYI...
See you when you get moved in!!

This is kind of funny. I have been researching mini-cows for about a year now. When we get a farm we are getting some mini-cows why because you can graze on about 1/2 Acre I have been looking at a type that is for milk and meat. You get 4-6 gallons of milk a day from a mini-cow. I can't wait until I get some. Funny story wonder how long before your DH finally believes you don't want a cow.

I feel the same way about cows and alpacas.
Way cute, but very much don't want one. (Unless I had a large farm, then all bets are off)
So anyway, anytime I want a new chicken my husbands first response is always "No new chickens"
So than I say something like, "well then can I have an alpaca"
"NO!!"
and then WE end up going to get the new chickens.

We did have pygmy goats and they are alot of fun.
Do research and learn about them first.
But just so you know.....
they won't eat the grass and
they do not like to get wet.

When my kids were young were were given an angora cross goat and she was wonderful! She loved our dog (taught her to climb fences unfortunatly) and played tag and hide and seek with the girls. Everyone loved that crazy goat.
