and I sent hubby to the feed store for horse feed. I am starting my diet again to hopefully get the last 40 or so pounds off. So he goes and gets the feed, and comes back to get me.
We finish shopping, and are taking the bags out to the car. He lets me get in the car before he says........
"Oh, by the way, the feed store has chicks....."
"How nice. What kind?"
"Barred Rocks, ....."
"Rhode Island Reds, ......."
"And Buff Orp-n-Somethings."
I had just spent all afternoon yesterday on the websites of the local hatcheries. I wanted RIRs, but had decided to get Buffs as well. I did not tell him because he had already told me no more chicks until it is warm enough for them outside. (I raised 20 in the dining room, lol, and then the sunroom for 3 months. Three chicks, then a month later 5 more chicks in my office. Dusty and smelly.)
"The owner asked where you were, and then told him to tell me about the chicks. 'Cause if I didn't, and she finds out, you are toast."
Needless to say, we went back and I got 5 RIR and 9 Buff Orps.
Cheri, who needs to update her sig to list her breeds.......
