So im confused, can anyone help?

So I have this hen and she is mating with the rooster so I put her eggs in the incubator and not a single one is fertile after 10 days. The weird thing is she only lays eggs after she mates for a few days and then she stops after a few days after she is mated. She is free range and he is kept with other hens and I let him out only to mate with her.

Are you checking fertility before putting them in the incubator? You should break one open and look for the bullseye. Hatching in an incubator can be tricky, so check if they are fertile before you start.

What breed? Many breeds don't lay consistently.
