My fiance` and I talked on and off about chickens for months...and then I saw some at a Farm & Home store (which I had never been to in my lifetime (23 years)). We bought 6 then and there. Two BSL, two RIR, three ducks and two BR. They were out of Americaunas. I called every Farm & Home store within a two hours drive radius and finally found one with some Americaunas about an hour away. We went and picked up four. One of my white ones died. That's another story for another time. One of my BRs turned into a Roo on me, and then suddenly passed away. This was after a friend of mine was getting rid of some Roos, so I still have a laced Wyandotte (possibly). I had come to the website numerous times for various research topics such as; coop building, chick keeping, feed, DLM, ecetera.
I'm a stay-at-home Mom with a 3 year old and soon to be 4 month old, they are quite the handful.
Before getting my own place with my little family; I had a wolf-hybrid named Dingo. Dingo is still with us, but he is easily stressed so moving him with me was out of the question. He remains with my father. We adopted a boxer mix and named her Molly shortly after our first child. Then I went to adopt a grey-hound mix pup who had come in with her brother. Adoption papers for her brother had been filled out, but after an hour of waiting for the people to show to adopt him, I went ahead and did so resulting in Pablo and Maria.
Then there's MooMoo, who ran away for 8 months when we moved to our new place and we also found him at the pound. My great aunt passed on suddenly, so we took in her ASPCA adoption cat, Timmy. A friend of mine called to inform me that someone had left a mother cat and three kittens at a trailer that was going to be bombed for bugs. I took them in. I kept the bob-tailed Mama cat (yes, that's her name), and her son, Moose. Cali - a beautiful Calico was given to one of my friends and is living the high life. Then along came Salvy, our purebred husky. A family member of one of our friends couldn't keep him anymore and we were grateful to receive him. Sometimes. Hm, I believe that is all. Oh. Nope. There's Frank. Our blue-eyed Albino Ball Python. Rumor has it - a pet store let a lot of exotic pets go and then filed a fraudulent insurance claim. Frank was found in one of our friends drive-ways, and again, brought to us. The most recent member is Meow, a kitten that was dumped (ATMYHOUSE) and my 3 year old named him and now it's his.
Mama Cat, Moose, and Meow are all outside cats by the way. Still trying to figure out a way to easily maintain a cat box for them so they will stay away from my mulch and flowers.
