So, I've got this cantaloupe rind...and 1 week old chicks..

If I put out chick grit (which I picked up at TSC this am) can I give them cantaloupe skin (with some flesh left on!). They will be 1 week tomorrow! They are eating their FF well.

I would not choose cantaloupe as a treat, especially for young chicks.

I don't know if cantaloupe in particular is safe for the babies, but I know I gave my little ones last summer watermelon rinds with a bit of flesh still in them. At first they were terrified of it (they were terrified of everything

), but when one finally got brave and tasted it they went bonkers for it and boy did they have a ball eating it and playing in it.

So, here's another. I have "wild bird seed" if I put out chick grit, can I sprinkle some around as a lil treat?
