So I've Got This Onion... (PIC)

We're forever planting old vegetables and stumps in the garden, or in a tray of water. Most of them flourish, and we eat the new growths when they're big enough. We have some carrot tops in a tray, some of them have grown enormous bushels on top.

I have no doubt the onion could survive there, but I'm sure it'd be fine if you planted it outside too.... or haven't I taken into consideration cold temperatures? No idea, I've never planted anything in temps below 10 degrees before

I love a room with plants. We used to have a lot of them indoors before we moved, but here they just dry up too easily

It's not like it's time consuming to stick an onion on the window sill MFB. Surely I'm not the only one that does this, notice Deb and Dawn both did/do this with potatoes? Get with it man, it's just another plant.

Besides.... You're going to have to move them all to hand my brownies out the window....

Yup, an onion MFB. I can honestly say that no one has ever accused me of not being unique...

Laurajean!
I had to buy some cute, cute little onion sets when we were at tractor supply because the called to me, like sirens!
Only, the front garden and herb bed and pots are all reserved for seedlings of other things.. and the backyard is just sand, and more sand, and wait, yep more sand. I can't get anything to grow back there... so how am I supposed to grow my onions now? I want onions.. and garlic!

For hydro, don't you need a feeding solution in the water?

I think your onion looks cute!

I like the window sills too I gotta say. And I could cool a pie on them, but MFB will be lucky to get any after all this onion discrimination.

Thanks Squishy. I have several plants growing in just plain ol' water, a couple I've had for several years. No solution, just water in a bottle. They do so well like that I don't bother to put them in dirt!

What a beautiful onion. I just love the jar too. And the amber bottle is just to die for! Oh! I love your pet onion so very much. Very unique and wonderful. You are just such a decorator. I just love what you've done with your window....

Me and Mr. Onion would like to know what kind of pie you like....

I have a purple onion I just "never got to" and it's sprouting. Sprouts are a good 4 inches long! I just hated cutting it, after that... so now I am gonna follow LauraJean's example and put it in a jar of water.

So there.
