Ya’ll I don’t know what to do. We have lost 9 birds in the last week. Something keeps ripping holes in the chicken wire and getting in. It’s killing the birds them eating them in the cage and dashing without the bodies. Last night my husband sat out and shot two coyotes, three skunks and two possums all heading towards the coop. This morning something got to the four chicks in a separate cage. It’s our fault we had just put up a new door that wasn’t very secure and it fell down. Left one body and took the rest. There was a separated foot and head from one of the chick bodies left also. I’m not sure what is doing this. Coyote? Skunk? We had a skunk in there before and all it ate were eggs though. What can chew a hole in chicken wire? Tomorrow we are going to reinforce with cattle wire hopefully that helps. I don’t know what else to do. We only have 5 hens left and a useless rooster.
