So if I were to get a baby goose(is that the right word?) and stick her in with the ducks/herd they would eventually adapt together? this is kinda cool......

I like the concept of a 'protector' for my flock but i totally am lost how ones does it... i mean... i have have 3 drakes, i know goslings grow at a rapid pace in comparison too.

Or are you better to buy a fully grown one.. i ran across an ad for a gorgeous Sebastopols gander.. lol They stated he guarded well and loved little ones?

That would pronably work for buying an Older one :)
And Yes, she would probably eventually get into your Flock..But you would have to bring her out to them everyday to get them to get used to her being there..UNless your thinking of getting ducklings, then they would grow up together and it would be alright..

I have an Embden gander who has grown up with our flock of Muscovy ducks and chickens, He will sound an alarm when something isn't right but actually my roosters are better at it. Geese can't protect a flock they are prey too. they will let the flock know if danger is around though.

Hmm...Okay.

Can't have Roosters..But I heard Geese CAN protect agains't domestic cats and dogs(small probably)...
Not really, ever seen the teeth on dogs? geese are really no match, might be able to bluff one dog off but more than one dog the geese don't really have a chance. Cats I don't think would mess with a grown goose unless your talking Bobcat or Mountain lion.

Oh Yes, I have some very ferocious dogs...Believe me! But..Funny thing is they're scared half to death of all my ducks becuase they bite the Crap outta them! Haha! But I have no Bobcats or mountain lions in Jacksonville to where I live.. Only Raccons and Foxes and Hawks and Owls...

I agree with Miss Lydia...geese are not protectors of flocks. They are just as vulnerable as ducks and chickens. You need a predator of your own, like a dog, to protect your flock from a predator. Otherwise you need really good fencing and housing.
