Hello,
I have had BYC for 4 years now. I had 8 sexlink hens, that unfortunately, were all killed when 3 raccoons broke into their run last year. Had to start all over this year...after removing raccoons and re-enforcing the run.
Now I have Road Island Red, Delaware and Cinnamon Queen hens, along with 2 Road Island red roosters and 1 Delaware rooster.
I am getting a ton of eggs with double yolks. About 1/2 of my eggs or so. Cracked open 10 eggs this morning and 5 of them had 2 yolks. With my last flock, twin eggs were a rare occurrence. Why am I getting do many now? Is it because I have rooster now?

They are all just over 4 months old. They started laying about 2 weeks ago. I am feeding them PulletGrain Layer Pellets...and the occasional fresh veggies.

Double yolkers are very common in new layers. Their systems are adjusting to production which is brought on by a surge in hormones, send this time is when all the parts are figuring out their part in the process.

Oh, ok. Thank you so much for your response. I did not experience this my first go around, so I was just curious. Makes total sense. Thanks again.
