I saw my neighbor's chickens while I was having a dog emergency. (Long story short, my Alaskan Malamute decided to take a tumble down the stairs -- he's recuperating and hopefully will be okay)
Anyway, the size of the birds made me pause. They're like -- BIG.
Really big. Almost intimidatingly so.
They aren't particularly friendly either and are free range. I suspect they looked bigger because it was cold and windy and they were puffed out
I've seen chickens before (I'm not a cityslicker) and I've seen my neighbor's chickens before, but for some reason that day it made a bit of an impression. I don't know why. (Maybe the whole emergency thing?
)
I took a look at my 8-9 week old chicks and they don't intimidate me in the slightest. I handle and enjoy all them. While I knew they need to be big to lay eggs, somehow the size of my neighbors chickens made me pause. Good thing I'm raising mine to adults, huh?
I'm good with big animals like horses, cattle, dogs and whatnot. I think it was just a surprise to see how big my chicks will become. Has anyone else had this happen where they looked at other chickens?
