how long they've been under the broody hen. Apparently she has continued to lay after turning broody and had a bunch under her. He thinks she's been brooding going on 3 weeks ago and he took the rooster out about a week after she went broody. I have 4 eggs that are completely dark. Nothing candles. I'm thinking those might be just about ready to hatch. Should I just put them in the hatcher and cross my fingers? We took them right out from under her, wrapped them in a warm towel and they were in the incubator within 5 minutes.
Some of the eggs look like unfertilized duds. I marked them and will watch them.
Some of the eggs look about 2/3 full. I'm thinking maybe 2 or 3 more days in the incubator and keep an eye on them?
Good LORD! What a mess.
BTW...they're all Silkies.
