he's not really a baby, but hes 4 months almost. turned 15 weeks yesterday. hes a house duck. with a fear of pretty much nothing but his own kind and any other kind of bird.
Theres something weird wrong with him though.
He shakes, randomly, all throughout his neck and head. But his body language and eyes show that its not bothering him at all. He doesn't even act like anything is happening. This happens every day around 30 times (I know, a lot). I have not noticed anything that sets it off but I find it strange. It doesn't bother him what so ever.
So what is it?
Should I get him checked out?

I would have him checked him...nek and head makes me think it is neurological or skeletal.

Could he have injured himself at any time, about the head and neck?

Hopefully, some of the other duckie folks will have ideas.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. He's been doing it for a few weeks, it hasn't been happening that long. Any checkups for any kind of bird always tend to be expensive. Actually for anything.

My ducks used to do that. It wasnt often though ( def not 30 times a day) But i have had ducks to exactly as you are describing. Never knew what it was though. They vibrate sort of.

He's not shaking his head though.
Like it looks like his entire neck and head is vibrating and when he touches me I can just feel it. It makes me want to cry. But like I said it doesn't bother him. It just looks bad.

I'm the only 'female' he knows of hahaha.

Hmm.... That's weird. He's my first duck so I wouldn't know. And my only one. Haha. He's like my child and I baby him to death and he acts like I'm his mommy, still follows me everywhere even though he's full grown.

My rouen hen use to do that. It was just something she did every time she saw me or whenever she was trying to 'show affection' I think. She would vibrate her neck and then try to get me to pet her. She was really tame and she loved people.

One of my Call ducklings did that the other day too. He saw my dog, vibrated his neck and then he launched at the dog. It might be an aggression type thing or an affectionate type thing.

Just my two cents.

How old is your drake? Perhaps he has reached sexual maturity. When my drakes do this they are acting aggressive,. I do not think he is ill. You need to remember that even though he is a pet he is a male with possibly raving hormones. He needs girls. Once mine reach sexual maturity they start this behaviour. They have never attacked me but I am aware this is a warning or at least a sexual response,

Your drake has hit sexual maturity and wants a ummm.....date.

My opinion only, of course and I don't claim to be an expert.
