I say that because last year we started with ducks and we're looking forward to adding chickens next season. My husband wants to raise our own meat, and I want to raise bug patrol and egg givers/pets. We're pretty set on breeds of chickens to start with, although not totally sure where and how to get them just yet.
My family and I live in central MN. We have three ducks right now gritting teeth through this cold winter. I'm mostly a mom, but I also garden and work a little from home. My husband does all the butchering, LOL. We had a really dramatic year last year with sickness and predators with our ducks, but we learned a lot and are approaching this year a lot differently than last year. But through it all, I still have my female rouen, the first duck I brought home and our gateway bird. She seems to really like me- and I love her back.
Thanks for letting me join!
