Wow! Lots of advice.. really appreciate the responses. But I think I have been unclear with many things. So I will start over.
We started our “farm” with 29 day old chicks. We raised them in our basement until we built a coop and put them outside. They were about 4 to 5 weeks. They were kepted in a run until June. Then we opened the pen and gave them free range. We gave away 10 of our chicks to others, the dog killed one, one died because of a crooked beak. Three of the Roosters were sent to live with our neighbor. Anyway we were left with 10 chickens. We have 3 Lavender orphingtons. The rest are banty mix. I have an Americana rooster..special to me because I hand feed, he has a deformed beak. One Orpington Roo, and a lg one not sure of breed.
Food is not scattered on ground. Fresh water everyday. Apple cider vinegar two tbls per gallon. They get a crumble. Grit is available to them when they want it.
I started VEtRX yesterday. Also were told by local feed mill to give game bird food.
We have put them back on a starter food. Fecal matter is going to MInn Univ. To be tested.
I had NO idea one could get so attached to chickens.
