I haven't noticed any over breeding. I think he mates with her once every morning but after that they just kinda hang out and enjoy each others company. She has been laying more eggs for me too. ^.^ Both seem pretty happy from what I can tell.
She is a Golden Sex link. I think my Roo is some kind of Marans Mix.
After all this back and forth I think I have finally found a scheduled that works for everyone. Looks like we are going to be able to keep Mr. Presley after all.
In the end of it all Mr. Presely was re-homed. He went to a friend of mine a little further out in the country and now he has a little flock of hens to looks after. ^.^
Since we still had the chicken bug we kept the Hen, bought a Bantam pair(Albert and Elsa) that I am really enjoying, and with the 10 I got from mister Presely I got a little Cornish mix breed pullet I named Kiwi. Lord willing she will be a broody hen. ^.^
My chicken math says my flock will be complete with a blue bantam hen for my little blue rooster. ^.^
FYI Bantam crowing is a world away from standard roo crowing. I almost enjoy Albert's crowing.^.^ And Elsa gave me a little egg today, her first egg ever. It almost looked to big to have come out of that little chicken.
...Anyway, in the incubator with it! ...well...as soon as I get a few more.
BUT not to keep. Apparently Polish Bantams are hard to come by so I hope to sell the chicks this spring. (Lord Willing)
Wow a lot has been going on! Congrats on your new chickens! Just don't got overwhelmed, even the best of us can reach a breaking point.... Best of luck!!
