We put our chicks in their coop/run combo for the first time this weekend. It was about time too, the older ones are 10 weeks old! The weather just would not cooperate and it ended up taking forever to build. Anyway, it only took them two days to learn to come down through the hole in the floor and down the ramp and three to go up at night on their own! I was worried last night because we were out late and it was already dark when we got home. First stop was out to check on the chicks and they were all in the coop!
As a little treat today I took them out a few stalks (stems?) of kale. It was so cute watching them be "afraid" of a vegetable. I ended up tearing a few pieces off and my three BR were brave enough to take the first few bites from me. The six EE soon followed suit and they're all now enjoying their greens. I really adore my chickies.
