Welcome farmchic!!!! This group here is a wonderful group, probably the best peeps on BYC right here in one thread. It took a monster to bring everyone together, and it has turned out to be a blessing. Not all of the participants here have suffered with the disease themselves, like me. However I did sit with my best friend for the better part of a year before she lost her hubby. There are people in this thread that I pray for and think of every single day, because I love them.

Annie3001- sorry to hear what you are going through! As a cancer patient, I feel guilty about making other people worried or sad. Maybe your aunt thinks that she is trying to help spare people? This stuff does funny stuff to your head!

Farmchic, thank you for you success story. That is what I need to hear right now! I had mt MRI and ultrasound yesterday and have to go in for a 2nd core biopsy tomorrow. This time on the other side. By next week I'm hoping we can get the ball rolling on what we are going to do about this stuff in me!
Did they put you on tamoxifen? Is that why you got uterine symptoms? My cancer is hormone receptive and I still have my uterus so my Dr. doesn't want to put me on tamoxifen. I havent found any research on any drug to help suppress hormones for people with a uterus.
I'm seriously considering double mastectomy if the left side turns out to be cancer. I'm really scared of radiation. I just have DCIS so I'm not looking at chemo unless they find something in my lymph node biopsy which hasn't been scheduled yet.
It can all be a bit overwhelming! Especially when you have to make decisions that affect your husband and kid's futures.

For me it was a little bit more involved (ie - they we're radiating my lower regions and had to do an insert for each radiation treatment every day for 30 days.) Not fun for me, but certainly not terrible!

BTW - chemo treatments for me wasn't bad either. So if you have to go that route, just remember that they do good things now with that they really take good care of you. I didn't suffer much at all. So keep a positive attitude - It really works.

Broody i would like to add also.

Chemo if not any fun, but they have great meds now to keep you from getting sick....i had it for 6 months every other week. Made me a little weak,no were as bad as i thought it would be....the hair lost , when it comes back, thicker in my case. and darker.

One think the time went by fast.....You can do this.......



Farmchic.....think that was the hardest thing for me to do.......telling my love ones. They saw both My Mother and Brother die from cancer. It really hurts to see them worry....

Agreed... the look on the faces of my small children when we told them was very hard. But showing them the science behind it really helped. They are between 7 and 12 and one is 18.

Sorry can't remember the name..i took one pill day of treatment and one a day next two day, which i had a chemo pump on those days. i know these pill cost 750.00 for 3 pill which my insurance paid...if no insurance they have other ways to help pay . that was 3 years ago..i will see if i can find out the name.
