This is so weird, I'm also considering getting another dog. It's probably the last thing on earth we need, but it's on my mind.
So, I also had labs today, and mine are slightly decreased, enough to also freak me out. This sucks! The Dr is Not Concerned, but that doesn't help my peace of mind at all of course. They were Not Concerned in Sept 2014 when my platelets gradually decreased. I followed up on that and wow, look, her leukemia's back. So, waiting another week until labs are done again. Funny enough, I just went through some old Rx and found a little stash of Ativan....that might come in handy
.
Goldens are on my list, but I'm really looking for something smaller. I'm thinking Basset Hound, that would be a good counterpoint to big goofy Eve...
I have had bassets, love them, but they are hounds, they put their nosed down and go, quicker than they look, hound smell, that oily outdoor coat, ear problems, and heavy, 50-60 pounds. Those were the bad things, good things, that face, those ears, that baying bark, that clown attitude. Bassets in action.
My dad saw his oncologist yesterday, and things are "stable". Guess that's good news. Since he had two kinds of lymphoma, the team is still deciding on whether maintenance chemo would be a good thing so that the slower-growing type would have a lower chance of becoming aggressive.
Although I've never been treated for cancer and never been in remission, I do understand the waiting for test results and the stress it can cause.
yeah, the ear thing could be an issue. And I know Bassets are prone to joint issues, not sure whatever else. I'd need to research more before getting one.
