i have 3 chicks, their called self-blues.. anyone care to tell me bout them

Dave, Self-blue is a color, more aptly called lavender in the United States. Several breeds come in self-blue. Unlike a blue chicken, lavender should breed true. If you breed two blue birds, you can get blue, black or splash, but two self blues bred will produce another self-blue, is my understanding.

I believe the "self" part of the color name means that it reproduces itself.

I used to raise Self Blue OEGB. They were the cutest babies of all the OEGB breeds I had.
