so that was weird....

growing up, i learned that you should help others and such...but just at random? LOL wowwy, thats strange and kinda cool

I think if someone grabbed something off my shoulders, I would be a little put out. A polite, "do you need any help" wouldn't bother me, but actually taking something from me might freak me out.....just saying.

I also don't particularly care for the "let me help ya there little lady" attitude.

It's been twenty-seven years but I still remember clearly a kindness from a stranger. I was nine months pregnant and struggling to put my three year old son in a buggy at k-mart. This young man walked up, put my son in the cart, patted him on the head and walked away. Good karma for that young man and a kindness never forgotten by me.

Yeah that's kinda where the shock came from --- coz I'd just gotten the bag situated just so on my shoulder and he just walked up and took it! It happened really fast! I kinda had to hold in the shock and sarcasim when I realized that he was just trying to be nice.

I didn't care for his comments either, but I didn't want to be rude if he was just trying to be nice

so who really cares? In the long run I will carry many a bags of feed, but I proabably will still laugh a little everytime I think of "that one time"

I guess I don't see the "strange" from this. He was helping. I'm not saying that you did anything wrong or were wrong for thinking that way, but sometimes I think we put TOO much thought into a simple act of kindness.

Nope, not just a regional thing. I am in the habit of letting folks out when I'm sitting at a red light and they are trying to enter the roadway from a side street/exit. Out here when I do that I get honks and fingers from behind and most of the folks I'm trying to let cut in don't have a clue what I'm doing.
That's the way I learned to drive - with courtesy to the other drivers - but anyhow, my DH (police officer) made me quit. He says out here that will only lead to an accident or road rage.

Just be careful letting people through traffic like that. You're responsible if they end up hitting someone comming the other way. My DH got slammed by a car while on his bike because someone allowed a car to do a left turn in front of them. 2 ruptured disks in his back and a totalled classic harley.... I'm just saying, it's ok to be polite, just be careful cause it may be illegal and someone could get hurt. I will only let someone out if they're going to go the same direction I am, cause you don't always know whats coming the other way.

I appreciate any act of kindness from anyone... I know I'm capable of doing things for my self, but if someone else wants to extend a courtesy I appreciate it. Although, I think if someone yanked something off my shoulders, they may throw my back out of wack! LOL!
