But a much worse message for youth would be to say that even though you have paid your debt to society you are now an outcast who has no chance to redeem yourself.
I don't see it that way at all. I think it's a message sent to youth that "you are responsible for your actions" when you do the crime and after.
Ok show of hands here, how many parents have heard every excuse in the book rather than just standing up and saying yes I did it and i'm guilty.
