I just got back from Metzer Farms
where I'd gone to pick up this little guy......

I know, I die.
We already have one adult white crested female (my husband wanted the crested's - it was the only way I was going to get ducks if he chose the breed!). We had a pair, but the boy, Bob, sadly got killed one night but Barbara is still outside and now happily thinks she's a chicken. Before we picked up Hazel we'd ordered him as Barbara's new boyfriend but I was desperate for a duckling in the meantime so now we have Hazel too!
Barbara:

Obviously, Hazel is not yet enamoured with her new little pal and keeps trying to bite him. I'm just going to introduce them slowly, get them eating and drinking together etc. There's lots of room for him to run and get away from her and if need be I can separate the brooder so they can see each other and she can't hurt him, I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on introducing them? I don't want to sound anthropomorphic but if I didn't know any better I'd say Hazel was jealous of the new pipsqueak - when I sit in front of the brooder she wants to get closer to me than he is! I'm sure they'll figure it out eventually but she's been raised, for the most part, as an only child and is very attached to me. I'd just like them to both be attached to me AND each other. Here's a pic so you can see size difference. I'm sure he'll match her in size in no time at all - she's a bit of a runt, bless.
