I feed the woodpeckers suet in the winter... as a substitute for the bugs that they can't get. Is suet good for chickens too? Maybe a little.

I gave them a tiny little bit and they seemed to like it.

Now that the weather is getting cold up here in the north, I was just wondering if it's a good option.

Of course there's no substitute for warm oatmeal in the morn'n.

Seems this is the time of year for suet questions. Try a Search on "suet"... It won't poison the chickens, but I'm sure too much would be really bad for them.

I occasionally feed a little suet in the winter. I run it through a food grinder & sprinkle it on the floor. I don't feed much or often but the birds seem to like it.
