ok so a topic i was discussing with a fellow long tail person all of mine that i have, have come from great breeders that have put a lot into tail and structure .

well one told me her stock came from cackle hatchery, they certainly look nice she said some longtails tend to look better coming from that hathcery while others look better coming from another.

So i want to see your longtails and to know where they came from, hatchery or breeder ?
this is not an anti hatchery thing or anything like that i just want to see the quality of the birds because now i am curious.

i was told yokohama from cackle tend to be very nice, phoenix not so much but i heard purely poultry had very nice phoenix but dont they use cackles pictures?

Longtail isn't a breed but a characteristic existing in many breeds.
What breed of longtails are you asking about?
Are they Yokohama, Phoenix, Onagadori, Jangmigye, Jitokko, Kuro Gashiwa, Minohiki, Ohiki, Satsumadori, Shokoku, Tomaru or Totenko?
i am aware i am talking in general and asking what hatcheries seem to be doing well and not so well with the long tail breeds they have

Following.
Because I have 17 week old Onagadori from Feather Lover Farms.
I had 3 Phoenix roosters purchased from Cackle Hatchery 6 years ago. They were pretty gentle natured boys. The one I kept the longest was killed by a fox this spring. D’ARTAGNON was a fabulous rooster but I wouldn’t know quality for his breed.View attachment 1950905

Longtail need a lot of space, if you didnt want their tail get cramped and break ofc.
They're suck a heavy maintenance, i better keep a medium one, it's fine as long as their tail don't touch the ground.

I believe that only Phoenix, Onagadori and Yokohama are available in the US.
nope you wont see hatchery onagadori theres prototype ones where people are tying to make them here but not true onagadori. you will see Cubalya (some consider them a longtail), Sumatra i think some have aseel, Phoenix bantam and standard and of course Yokohama

long tails you will see in the US breeders and hatcheries:
Onagadori, American Ohiki, Cubalya, Longtail Aseel, Proto Onagadori, Sumatra, some folks have had some of the other breeds but most of them are over in Europe or Korea

do you have pictures of them? from what ive been told the onagadori from FL are proto and alot of folks have had issues with them they are all over the good egg bad egg boards. would love to see the cackle phoenix someone posted some from another hatchery that werent phoenix.

For those who raise them, I'm curious if males or females are aggressive to other chickens.
I have sumatra, Onagadori Cy hyde line, phoenix and Ohiki ive not had really many issues with mine roosters will be roosters and posture but raised together no issues whatsoever that said more birds in a pen with a long tail and your going to possibly get feather damage.

yup , i like tall pens for mine with plenty of perches but never crossing each other so they dont tangle, raised feed and water and deep wood shavings i do the layering method and clean out once a week and each one has a roof to keep the weather out im building some blinds currently for keeping stronger winds out
