So, what's your plan for your unexpected cockerels/roosters?

Mine head for the freezer as well. I have 3 roos in this batch, maybe 4 but the jury's still out on that one. One day she looks like a girl and the next day he looks like a boy. Guess we'll wait until he crows or she lays an egg. Now, that said, I must confess that we never planned to keep a roo - any roo - from the first day we got chickens. But then along came Scout and, um, he's still here. But then he's no ordinary roo - he's.....well, he's....he's just Scout, and he stays. He's loud, he's annoying, he's got deformed feet and he stays.
 
Yeah, I really didn't think I could miss Jeoffrey Barathon...but I do now...goodness.

As for smoking birds, we always brine ours for a day before we smoke them. It really tenderizes them for cooking! LOL
