if you have a rooster? I ordered hens (though know there is a margin of error) and my 10 kiddos are 3 months old now. Combs still arent fully in, they are still growing but one is much more aggressive than the rest. To the point of running after me, pecking me, lunging at me. Is this normal hen behavior at this age? What are the signs you have a rooster? Its one of my Barred Rocks. The others, 2 other Barred's, 3 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Patridge Rocks and 2 Golden Wyandotte's. All are very mellow except this one Barred. Any help on when I will know, or how I can tell would be appreciated !

Saddle feathers. That is all I remember. Had a pic on my msmv blog.I will look for it.My roo crowed at 7 Weeks old.

Thanks I will keep looking ! Not that developed yet, they all still look the same but wasnt expecting such an aggressive female.

Barred rock boys aren't usually shy. Rocks get larger combs early, have thicker legs and barred rocks have the added bonus of being much lighter in color than the girls. At three months you should be able to tell if you have a boy by those signs. Saddle and hackle feathers would be starting but maybe not in enough to be sure, and spurs aren't reliable. If the bird looks like the others, I'm betting you just have a mean girl.

You can post pics if you want confirmation.
