So who else has ostriches?

I have Ostriches, and I know 2 other people in North Carolina do. I'm wondering who else in North America keeps them, I want to grow the industry here but we need some more interest! anyone out there?

Whooo, NDP! Akchoollleee, we've not had a lot of ostrich owners, and I recall they were commercial breeders rather than having ostriches as pets.

[No jokes about nine-foot-tall pets, thank you!]

But I personally am eager to learn about this ratite.

My neighbor has a fit if one of my chickens gets out and gets in her yard. Can't imagine what she'd do with an ostrich.

I know they can eat and survive a 25 ft stanley tape measure. Neighbor had them when I was a kid. He plugged in his freezer and I honestly think he was a little dissapointed at that point. They're interesting. One was actually kinda friendly, two were deffinately not.

It's odd -- although I know no ostriches personally -- that emus get such bad press for aggressiveness; but apparently ostriches are way more ornery.

And of course cassowaries, but they don't turn up in safari parks.

We use to have a farm that raised Emus in our county even had a restaurant that had Emu burgers on their menu but the restaurant burned down and the farm moved away.
