I just bought some more off e-bay, also have some pekin eggs of my own to go in... I have a good bator now all set up so it will be interesting to see success rates with a decent bator...
Anyone care to share postal egg experiences?

I don't buy as many as I once did since I've now got the breeds I want. I've had everything from 0 out of 18 hatch to 11 out of 13 make it out. It's the only way I had to get some of the breeds I wanted.

I've had none hatch, I've had three hatch out of 24, I think the best I have ever had out of a postal shipment was 8 out of 14.

I've had 100% hatch rates down to 20 % with shipped eggs. Depends I think on how old the eggs are and how good the PO is to the box. Good luck! Hope you get a good hatch rate

I got 6 BCM from e-bay and they are all growing on day 12

My first try with shipped eggs was last spring. I got 24 eggs from a BYC member and with my new Brinsea Eco, I got 100% hatch rate. I was surprised, because of the risk that the eggs can be damaged from going through the postal service, but all those eggs hatched beautifully. I just ordered a dozen each of two different breeds (ordered these off e-Bay from a member with 100% positive feedback who has an excellent reputation with hatching eggs) and I'm about to load these in the bator later today. I hope I have the same luck with this hatch. It can happen!

Mixed results here too. There are so many factors affecting shipped eggs that it's always a gamble.

Good luck and happy hatching!

It depends how far the eggs are shipped. I had 5 hatch out of 40 that were shipped from coast to coast, and then I had like a 95% hatch rate on some shipped from just a few states a way. I also had a learning curve about keeping the incubator humid enough AND with enough airflow. Next time, I hope to have broodies to do the incubating for me.

I have gotten ALOT of eggs off of e-Bay, some good hatches, some total failures. I have resorted to ordering day olds, & raising. I get my offspring from them. Every other year I add new blood from a different hatchery.
