Soap Makers Help!

Yes I did get it, I just haven't gotten back, sorry. I'll do that in just a bit. I know I wanted to compare the AJP to what I got from Southern Garden Scents. Theirs, while well behaved, was way too apple-y for me. Hardly any spice notes oob or in soap. Dh likes it though.

The roll on perfumes are so easy to do. I like them a lot and they sell pretty good too. I didn't like the white willow and green tea, gave me a headache.

I'm really annoyed with AAA chemical right now. I ordered lye from them last Wednesday along with soap nuts and citric acid and I still have not recieved my order. I don't know that they have even shipped it yet because the UPS tracking I got this tuesday only says billing info recieved. I 'm still waiting to hear if they shipped it or not because if not I'm going to have to go down there and pick it up. This is very vexing

Yes I used FCO. I did 75% FCO 25% FO to make the perfumes. I wouldn't go over 30% though. They mix together really well and then I pour them into the bottles and then snap on the lid.

Rustic soap is my favorite...I would buy that. I think you should package it old style...look up an old soap label find comparable font etc. ITS all in the packaging...I have noticed. I've sold bare naked...and people turn their nose up at it. ADD some fancy shamcy label and folks eat it up. Gimmicky names work too...RUSTIC is a market too. I have long researched and thought about having 3 or 4 business names marketing the soap to different demographics. I've got a few GREAT names up my sleeve....and NOT telling you all them!! Think of age groups, culture and gender when you are packaging the soap. It does work...marketing. I have even tried to sell soap as one name and FOLKS did not buy it...but I made up a new name repackaged it and customers bought it all up in no time flat. It's fun...the marketing part.

Ok so I did my first batch of soap EVER yesterday! We'll see, it was a pretty basic recipee. All ingreediants I could get local. Olive oil, coconut oil and castor. Water and lye. Small 1 lb batch.
Everyone please cross your fingers, I can see this becoming fun.

All the pics are wonderful, the colors/sents/textures/molds WOW!

Cheeptrick, to have your love of packaging!

Me --> put it in a shrinkwrap cigar band, shrink it and call it done.

I've tried boxes, labels, different labels. Customers always wanted to take the soap out and look at it.

Put them in a clear shrink wrap and BOOM, they sell.

During the holidays, I'll put a ribbon of homespun yarn and a tag with the name of the soap IF the customer says it is for a present...

I been debating about packaging for mine, decided on the shrinkbands with a label on it. I really like the linen bags, but my gf who has been doing this longer than I says the shrink bands(dans bands)really sell well. Our first craft fair(That I participated in) is next month and I have over 150 bars curing in my bedroom so I hope they sell.
