Today I'm finally getting around to messing with my infused oils. I'm testing another shaving recipe, I wasn't really happy with the one I tested before. I went a different direction with this one and I like the numbers on soap calc.

Here is a picture of the oils I'm going to use. I just finished straining them. Left to right- Red Sandalwood chips, Dragon's blood resin, annatto seed.

Sandalwood might give me a pink or it might go tan(not sure, others have had mixed results). Dragon's blood resin should be mauve and the annatto yellow or orange.

Ok you guys are officially on a pedestal. Absolutly beautiful works of art!!!

Here's my first soap just very simple Olive/Coconut and caster w/H2O

then I thought "hey that turned out so nice and easy! I can do this!" and I tried oatmeal soap with buttermilk and honey added color and orage EO... LOL not as good. ALthough it does smell like oatmeal cookies.

I scorched the milk and it was partially frozen. Should I have started from a Ice Block of Milk? I was hoping for the creamy.

Picture is a little blurry but it looks like it over heated. How much honey did you use? What are the brown bits?

My camera is a bit out dated... 8 yrs old, should probably get a new one doesn't do close up hardly at all!

I used CheepTrick's recipe on post #78. The brown is oatmeal.

I was hoping that it would be like the oatmeal/goatmilk soap that my dad use to buy when I was little. The gal who made it moved away and I wanted to do this for him. He'll still like it since I made it but it's not the same.

You can use either time or heat. I usually put my herb or whatever in my crockpot and pour enough olive oil to cove and cook at lowest setting for 4 hours and then transfer to a jar until I'm ready to use. Or you can put the herb in a jar, fill with OO and leave in a sunny window for a month or so. The longer you infuse the stronger the oil.​

so how would you use that infused oils? could it be used for scenting and coloring? or one or the other.

I have another question what is the diference between essential oils and scented oils? how would you used them in a recipe? how would you calculate them into the recipe?

could you give me a very easy infussed oil recipe that I could begin working on? I like reds so that dragons blood is intriguing but I will understand if its your secret recipe!
