I just watched some Nancy Today soap making videos. I feel much better about my chances.
I had book marked her after someone said they liked her, I am really enjoying the videos.
I just love Nancy Today! She seems rambling and pointless a lot, but that's what I love about her. She shows you what really happens haha not just what goes right.
I was watching Nancy Today too! She's funny most times, and I enjoy when she shows how she sets up her table at the farmers market or crafts fair. She's very encouraging.
Well I didn't do mine. I have started rereading my notes, and I am planning for Monday morning while the kids are at school. I can't wait to see pics of yours!
I think I might do another batch tomorrow...lol
Have fun with yours! This is my new addiction. And it smells like rosemary..I forgot to tell you all that I steeped some fresh rosemary sprigs (from bushes in my front yard) and now this batch smells like rosemary!
ETA: Since this is a small batch it will set up faster, especially in my 21" long mold lol. I think this will make 7 bars.
Cool! I wanted to be a little cheap this first go and since we have rosemary bushes...
Mine used 30 oz. of oil. I think I posted the "recipe" in the previous page when I was asking for help. It's from Watson's "Smart Soapmaking" book.
I made my mold out of a plank of wood. I think it is 3/4" thick and almost 5" wide. I made the mold 21" long (inside length) and about 3.5" wide (inside). It ended up being ~5" tall deep. I couldn't get hanger bolts and wingnuts before today so I just wrapped a soft length of cloth around the mold and tied it so all the pieces stay together (since the two ends are not yet attached). Only the sides are attached to the base using hinges. I lined the inside with wax paper that I folded to fit the inside of my mold. I don't know if I'm going to get wingnuts now; I think this makeshift mold works for the moment.
