Perhaps it was the recipe you were using at the time? If it contained palm oil and the stearic separated from the oil, I could understand the difficulties.

I don't use palm oil and I stir my master batch a few times while cooling.It cools off to a nice semi-solid oil that is easily stirred. My recipe contains 55% solid oils and 45% liquid oils.

Masterbatching works great for me too. Betta, did you melt the hard oils when you did the master? I do, then mix in the liquid oils and whisk it every once in a while as it cools. If I had to weigh oils every time, I'd procrastinate even more than I do now.

I only use the coconut oil and it's pretty low in the overall weight of oils. The rest are liquid. It looked fine, but the soap was not right. :/ I tried it a few times with the same results.

I wonder if some of them separated out a bit as they cooled.. with heavier oils sinking lower into your batch bucket

Well, a fragrance oil order from last week or the week before came with one that was completely dumped through the package. It was a 1oz size, so I wasn't too worried about it, but I did take pictures and the PO had seperated everything in little bags to try to prevent further damage. I didn't file a claim, because for $0.99, it just wasn't worth calling the company a third time (I'm weird about leaving messages, kind of a phobia). Well, tonight I was sifting through them and all but two of them are muddled... They STINK, the spilled FO mixed with them and now they are almost all junk. :/ I'm going to call again tomorrow and if not, shoot them an email and explain the situation, because one ounce isn't a big deal, but almost my entire order? :/

Hello everyone!

I could scarcely believe my eyes when I saw this soapmaking area of this chicken forum. I've been making soap as a hobby for about 7 years now, maybe 8.
I think I might have found a home here, I can talk Chickens, soap...my favorite subjects.

I don't sell my soap....at least I haven't in a long time. I used to sell some at a friends boutique.

I would include a few pictures of the recent bars I have curing now, but I need to research a little bit on this forum's set-up.

Hello Cyndi....yes, it's been a long time.

I'll post some as soon as I find the wire connection my phone uses to communicate w/ my laptop, lol. Hubby used it last, right after Christmas.
We're thinking he might have left it in our trailer that's in the storage lot now. We're getting it today so...

How have you been? I no longer contribute on the dish....got very sick of all the bickering crap. I left, then they banned me because I told them I was finally leaving. I'll still go there incognito to look at soap, but it forces me to stay out of off-topic, because I can't keep my mouth shut.

Never really found another soap forum. This is a nice place. I've wanted chickens for years, and I've been pouring over the internet for some time now trying to learn more about them and drool over so many great coops abd birds. I was pleasantly surprised to see a soap section here.
