Soap Makers Help!

I unwrapped a bar of soap yesterday from a friend. My son and I could not place the scent. We settled on turpentine. I think they were going for pine.
I do not suggest that.

My husband likes citrus smell: grapefruit ,orange...rosemary is a manly scent. or sage.
What is the smell of Lava soap? That always smelled clean. Deep down, got all the ick off, clean.

Happy to see this thread is alive and well!!

As a first timer I bough crisco -- the fake lard stuff. As this is a cheap fat thought it might e a good first batch.

But I need a recipe by weight. Perhaps it can be blended with another oil??

I use soapcalc.net to create my recipes. It will tell you how much of everything you need. I usually use coconut oil, olive, sustainable palm and avocado oils in mine but I will throw in some others on occasion. I made about 5 batches today. :0)

If you are just starting look up some tutorials on CP soapmaking. There are several youtube videos as well to help.

Excellent. THank you!!

I have tried several different recipes the last few weeks...some all natural and some with lots of color. I'm working on a school fair project for September and I am making bath cupcakes, some cake soap, and some all natural with EO.
