Soap Makers Help!

Very MILD...like a wash cloth. I'm looking forward to the soap dissolving because I want to make drawer sachets out of the pouches...I'm going to put smellies in and stitch it up. I was also considering making MITTENS for my youngest or booties with pretty silk ruffles because the contrast between silk and felt is so different...

Can you all tell I'm hooked? LOL

CW's lovely felted soaps totally inspired me!!

LOL, no not all!

I'm trying to decide what to soap later to day. I might do 2 Yuzu's and one Black raspberry cream or dragons blood. I am really surprised at how well the dragon's blood sells, with men and women!

Ok. So is making your own laundry soap really cost effective?? I looked up on Amazon last night and is $22.00 just for a small thing of scented oil, borax, washing soda, and that bar, I can't remember what the name is. I think that is pretty expensive. Am I missing something?

Hmm, that is really neat idea. How many soaps could you felt with a pound of fiber? I think you need to include written directions in the box, pictures would be great too. Package it as a gift and they might do very well. It looks like something girls would like to.

Yeah, that is really really high. You can get all that locally, but you might have to hunt. If you can't find the soap, try to make an all coconut bar with 0 superfat to grate up and use. That would cost something like $.30-.50 a bar to make if not buying in bulk.

That does look very costly. I would buy all the parts separately. Borax is in Walmart and almost every other store, the washing soda can be ordered from Arm & Hammer with free shipping. Only thing we had trouble finding was the the Fells Nafta. Finally ordered it from Soaps gone by.
Somebody calculated the cost per load using handmade to be about 2 cents per load.

Using handmade soap wouldn't you have a foam overload? I thought that was the reason Fells Nafta was used, because it didn't lather.

I've used mine and have never had a problem

I never got real big bubbles from it, and my soap lathers pretty well. I think the actual concentration of soap in that much water is so little that it doesn't matter. When I ran out of Palmolive I used my soap to wash dishes and there were very few bubbles.
