Soap Makers Help!

Yesterday I made a lemon/lavender soap. The thing really zapped my tongue. The first time i got zapped!! IT did not seize or give me anyproblems. I did not change the recipe at all so not sure what went wrong. Should I just let it sit for a while or get rid of it???
I'm going to try to make a cucumber soap today. I'm trying a soap using cucumber pureed should I discount the water at all?

U used lard...AND you probably used pasteurized. Makes whiter soap...both. The heat of pasteurization stablizes the color in milk...I notice the same with juice. But with vegetarian soap AND UNpasteurized...we notice a more caramel color....when mixing the fresh goatsmilk into the lye. NOT wrong either way....just soapers preference. Same with gelling...
Soap is kind of like potato salad....everyone makes it different.

um sorry but I dont buy milk at the store....I also dont pasturize my goats milk. She worked really hard to make it PERFECT for me... why should I screw with it? I think pastuizing milk ruins it and my son is alergic to pastuized milk (why we have the goatie). anyway!!! I am a milk snob.. only drink milk from nubians and nigerians or LaManchas....wont drink any other breeds milk!!!

when I was making my lard and milk soap I thought it was going to turn out pink... it looked like it was a pinkish orange color but over night it set up HARD and turned snow white!

Milk Snob!!

I represent that remark!! (Although my preference is raw Jersey milk!)

Thats funny cause I would totally love to have a cow for milk but I live on a golf course and the HOA wont let me..... so I have a goat that lives at my friends house down the way from me....so I still get milk.

I'm a milk snob too...I just think it's silly to use the good stuff and turn it into soap. I'm also against animal oils in my soaps...kind of gross...

Here are a few soaps I've made this season...
Goatsmilk w/ Clean Cotton ungelled
Swirled Bay RUM...goatsmilk gelled
Apple Cider/Goatsmilk Apple Jack/Fall Harvest fo gelled
Bergamot/Coriander/Grapefruit made with gm/carrot/orange juice gelled
Goatmilk Chamomile Confetti made with Titanium Dioxide for bright white! Did not gel...but I did not stir.
Liquid Chlorophyll/Goatmilk (which is the reason it turned brown during the initial 48 hour cure because I used gm it dawned on me later why) gelled with confetti chips
And Pumpkin Spice layered carrot juice/goatsmilk and brown oxide/pumpkin pie spice is the middle layer. Top is grated plain ol soap no fo.
