Soap Makers Help!

I would not have thought Bermuda Breeze would smell like that either. If you want that coconut pineapple sun tan oil smell, Tropical element from Moonworks Collection is awesome! I had to make dh shampoo with that scent he loves it.

Scent works has the BEST Black Raspberry Cream. It'll make your mouth water. Yuzu Japanese grapefruit is really good and sells very well. Their Irish Tweed is super strong, you can .3-.5 oz ppo and have a strongly scented soap that sticks forever!

Southern Garden Scents is really really good too, and they have made a coupon code just for us here on BYC. Use BYC-09 and you save 10%

I have had to put a stop on ordering new fragrance oils for a while. I have several I haven't even soaped yet and I'm looking for new ones to try. I do need to order some more eo's though. I went through 2 pounds of lavender eo in less than a month! I want to try some small quantities of a few so I can do more blending.

And this morning I just bought my web domain. I'm going to go ahead and get a website built sooner than I had planned. Dh says he will take care of it for me, which makes me happy, I hate doing that kind of stuff. I've got my company card paid off and now I'm just itching to buy stuff! Help me! LOL

We keep putting off the website...I need to get moving on it...folks are asking. I booked craft fairs for every weekend in NOVEMBER! I'm going to be so busy...not sure I'll have enough stock for the website. Last year I did OK on the website...but bulk of my money came from local orders who just emailed me and asked me for this or that.

I ordered Lime coconut Verbatim?? Yuzu Grapefruit, and 1 oz of creamy Coconut that I'll add to the lime coconut, and Cucumber Lettuce. I'll tell you how they smell.

I ordered black raspberry cream also...4 ozs. I'm already planning my swirl!

The coconut lime verbatim is really nice, very lime-y but not too much coconut. Let me know what you think of the creamy coconut, I haven't tried that one. You will love the black raspberry!

Ok I haven't posted any pictures in a while so here are some

Here is the patchouli confetti

This is the pumpkin spice, I used pumpkin puree for the color(1 oz ppo) and the pencil line is from cocoa powder. I scented with cinnamon eo.

here is the the yellow dock root that was not gelled. Both were 12% of total oils. The ungelled has some black oxide pigment swirls.

And this is the dragon's blood after it has darken. You can't tell too much in the picture but the gold swirls sparkle from the mica.

LOVE the pencil line...did you add the cocoa powder when and pour at thick trace?? Or did you add another batch at thin trace? I added a pencil layer to one of my soaps after 24 hours and it FELL off at slice time??? I was thinking I'd do a glycerin layer in between two cold process layers.

Beautiful soaps Morgaine!!

This was the first time I've ever done a pencil line so I wasn't sure how it would turn out, I just knew that I wanted to try to get that line as straight as possible. I mixed my oils and lye to the just emulsified stage and seperated some for the top. To the main portion I added the pumkin puree and cinnamon eo. I brought it to a very thin trace and then poured. I then used a flour shifter to evenly put the cocoa powder on top and then went back to the rest of the soap. It was still at a thin trace and and I added a tiny amount of cinnamon eo at that time, mixed and then really carefully poured it on top. I have about 8 bars that are not perfect out of 44. The vast majority look like the one I posted. I knew the cinnamon eo would set the up faster than normal so that it should be hard enough that if poured very slowly would support the weight.

I think the secret to layers is making them gel so that they fuse together.

yeah, it was really nice beause I didn't get the clumps. And you just really dust the top, it could also be that your line had too much powder and that is what made the soap split.

I'm almost out of palm so I'll need to get some more when I go town. Ds is home sick today. God I hope it is not the flu. I'll use what I have and then I'm doing some experiments using lard. I have to get a shaving soap for Christmas.

Beautiful bars, Morgaine! That pencil line is wonderful!

I'm sorry to hear about your son and also hope it's not the flu. We're just getting over it here. My son had it first and gave it to me. My husband and daughter have been OK so far. It's not a fun one, believe me. My fever is gone and if I can just stop coughing I'll be completely well. Thankfully, a large group of people have pulled together to wrap all the bars for the festival this weekend. I'll let you all know how it went!

My order from BB came yesterday!!! Yea!! All the EOs/FOs were in tact... The boxes look great.... I'm still researching the stamp I want but I think it will look great for some gift baskets....

Anyone know where to get really cheap on the small side baskets to make up?? I'm thinking three bars of soap, 1 liquid soap, 1 foot lotion, 1 face lotion and a loofa and soap pocket... I found a box that hadn't been unpacked (been at the new place 3 yrs now) that had some red netting in it and thought I would use that to secure the baskets with....

Got my sewing machine fixed $118 and am now ready to tackle making more soap pockets... Found some really nice fall colored wash clothes at Big Lots (gotta love that place) that I can't wait to sew into soap pockets....
