Soap Makers Help!

Awww. Poor guy! I hope he feels better soon. How are you doing? It seems as if this flu has an enormous number of side effects. An adult relative of ours has pneumonia.

I'm ok as long as I keep the fever down with ibuprofen which also helps with the aches. And on top of it all, i had to get my period.

Joseph is going to stay home with him tonight while I do first friday and then I'm missing the last weekend of the renaissance festival. I jsut don't feel right leaving him right now.

I'm so sorry to hear about your relative, pneumonia can be very scary.

Aww Amber...that stinks...ear infections HURT bad....I did not have one for 15 or more years and just had one a few months ago....MAN that was the most painful experience ever. I hope he is better soon!!

You too, huh? Yep, Aunt Flo decided to pay a visit while I was sick, too. How unfair is that?!!

If your fever is not over 102 or thereabouts, you may actually be better off if you allow the fever to fight the virus. The fever itself can actually work to fight off the disease, assuming that it's not too high. I didn't take a thing for my flu and am definitely way better than I was. The big fever (up to 102.6) only lasted two days, then it dropped under 100 for the next two days then was gone. I sure hope everyone feels better soon!

Ok....I cannot sleep and I've got about 17-10 year olds coming tomorrow for a birthday party!! Figures!!

So I've decided to tell you all about the scents I just got from Scent Works.

Yuzu Grapefruit is awesome...so much more like grapefruit than ANY other scent I've tried...and I've ordered eo from essential wholesale (which was the closest I could get and it still morphed in the gel) so I'm anxious to try this one.

Cucumber Lettuce...ok...smells more floral I think...and no lettuce smell ??

Creamy coconut has top notes of coconut and bottom pineapple. Nice...I like it and especially like it at 200degree flash point....should STAY if that is the case while gelling.

Coconut Lime Verbatim...really smells like a coconut lime margarita!! I'm going to love soaping with this one....I'm going to do a cocoa powder pencil line in between liquid cholorphyll green and white layer. Of course I'll use coconut milk...also. I'll post photos soon.

No pictures but with a little work I was able to get the rebatched soap out of the metal jello molds.... They look like little cakes....

I wish I had used a ginger spice or nutmeg or something but I really liked the Rose Ger. that Amber gave me and used that....

They smell great but sort of at odds with their shape....

DH promised he'd get the connection to my laptop fixed so I can upload the pictures....

He's at home with two sick kids... poor man.... when DD gets sick, she's very clingy... She's running 101 fever and she's the type that it is very hard to get it under 100....

Anyone tried TNS's liquid soap base?? I'm having problems getting it to suds up.... I purchased the bubbly agent (sorry don't remember what it was called) to add to it and added DD's Strawberry FO but it doesn't suds up and for her w/o suds it's like lotion...

I haven't used the liquid soap base before, so I have no idea. TNS has awesome customer service though, give them a call or e-mail and see what they say.

Can't wait to see the pictures. How did you find the rose geranium soaped? It's not my favorite to make but I think I'm going to make some more before the holiday season. Sales have picked up a little for that one.

I got my round silicone molds from WSP and they make the perfect sized shaving soap. They were really easy to work with too. Next mold might have to be silicone!

I also got my order from EOU. I love the Ylang Ylang, it smells beautiful, so soft and feminine. It kinda smells like honeysuckle and rose with a touch of green. Really nice! The texas cedarwood is really nice too. I got so many it's hard to remember! The coffee eo smells just like roasted coffee beans. Ginger is really really nice too. Rosewood is really pretty, like rose and warm wood. EOU black pepper is nicer than BB was. Bay and clary sage are ok on their on, will be better used in blends I'm betting. The bergamot wasn't as nice as i thought it would be, it's jsut not that special smelling I guess. I can't wait to do some blending! First one is going to Earth Child off of Rainbow Meadow. Lavender, orange, lemon and patch!

Coconut Lime Verbatim...really smells like a coconut lime margarita!! I'm going to love soaping with this one....I'm going to do a cocoa powder pencil line in between liquid cholorphyll green and white layer. Of course I'll use coconut milk...also. I'll post photos soon.

I did a layered soap of green, white and brown when I made CLV too! It's a great scent that really sticks around. Can't wait to see yours! Did you get Black Raspberry Cream too? I need to make more of that.

Amber,

The Earth Child sounds wonderful... I have all those EOs, I'll have to try blending...

WSP? -- are they tube molds or flat? I didn't see a WSP on the reference thread or did I just miss it....

I like the Rose Ger. I just used a bit more this time as the first batch lost its scent and although smells nice and clean, just not as strong as this batch...

Both my kids are sick now... DD has 102 fever, Doc said they've stopped testing for H1N1... DS has a nasty cough and runny nose...
Poor DH is at home with both....

I'll drop TNS an email and see if they can help....

So sorry to hear that you guys have the crud too. Hope you get over it quick.

earth child is a great blend. I tested it on some cotton balls. I think I'll make make that and a cedarwood lavender blend and I have to restock some lemongrass, that stuff flew on First Friday.

WSP is Wholesale Supplies Plus, I'm sure it is on the reference thread. It's not a cylinder mold, more like a muffin tin. There are six cavites and the sides are all perfectly straight and not tapered. It makes a great sized bar. And I had no problem with the soap gelling, even uncovered!

I found that .7 oz ppo was a good amount of the rose geranium. 1 oz ppo was very strong and overpowering.
